A little rain and a few frogs...

I woke to grey skies and drizzle. I had a little time before physical therapy to stitch so I worked my way around on the Pyn Cushion border only to be off one stitch. Fortunately, my mistake was made on that first side which only had a few rows finished and I was able to frog my way back to "square". The border is finished and now I'm working on the leaves.

I also started a small needlebook kit (Tartan Plaid and Thistle) I purchased on vacation a few years ago. I'll post a picture soon. I got my July/August issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine in the mail. A few of the Christmas ornaments caught my eye: "Mine!" by Brittercup, "Cool Christmas" by Fresh Threads Studio, "Gingerbread Tree" by Little House Needleworks, and "I Love Reindeer" by Midsummer Night Designs. Tomorrow I'll look through The Stitchery's latest catalog.

Saturday Stitches

It was a rainy Saturday here on Lake Michigan so I indulged in some movies, stitching and a little take-out from Moe's Southwest Grill. I continued working on the border of the Strawberry Pyn Pillow making my way around the top corner and most of the way across before my shoulder and back said "enough".

We enjoyed (if one can describe it thus to watch a gritty movie about the Holocaust) "The Pianist". It was hard to watch at times, but that only speaks to the subject matter. I would give it 4 stars. The pleasure in the film was the fabulous piano music. We then enjoyed a classic thriller "Where Eagles Dare" with Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton. Another WWII film though a completely different subject matter (and fictional this time). I was a fan of Alistair MacLean's books as a young woman and this screenplay was also written by him. This one also gets 4 stars.

I need to wash my hair for church in the morning... so good night one and all!

Strawberry Pyn Pillow

Why is it so hard to start something new? Could it be that basket of UFO's lurking in the corner that shoots darts of guilt? No matter how wounded I may be I managed to pull out a kit from GOS and make a start. The project is a good sized "pyn" pillow by Praiseworthy Stitches (Issue 44). I loved the colors of Gentle Art Sampler Threads in this one: Cherry Wine, Dried Thyme, Victorian Pink, Cameo Pink, and Avocado. I made a good start (working on the regular cross stitch border first). The 32 ct. linen provided with the kit is a bit stiff but I'm managing. Stitch on!
